Is It A Mistake To Feel Nervous?

It’s only a mistake because you are already great at what you do.  You just haven’t learned yet, how to dissolve those nerves and you probably never learned the art of presenting confidently at school.

Jerry Seinfeld once joked that most people would rather be in the coffin than delivering the eulogy!

And think about it – it’s actually true!  Most people are terrified of speaking in front of a group. You read that right. MOST people. In fact 75% of people are fearful of public speaking. That’s 3 in every 4 people. That should tell you something. . . THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH YOU.  It’s NORMAL to feel this fear.  The problem is that it starts to interfere with your professional or business progression and your confidence and that can affect lots of other things.

Most people that feel this fear are actually high achievers, I call them high-calibre people  – great at what they do,with very high standards for themselves and genuine. They just never learned this particular skill at school. I wasn’t taught this skill at school either and from the age of seven, I refused to get in front of a group until I was practically forced to as an adult. My daughter started to learn this stuff at age 5 and when she was asked to stand up in front of 100 parents after three weeks at her new school, at age 10, she was thrilled and sailed through it – even inspired some of those parents to have their kids enroll.

The point is, that after 30 years of making the most humiliating, embarrassing mistakes anyone could make in front of a group; after three decades of learning from some of the world’s top presentation and leadership experts; after years of experience facilitating and speaking to groups of 10 to over 1000, I have developed something that can assist you with understanding your fear better so you can start to dissolve it and, more importantly, something that can help you design and deliver great presentations that you feel proud of.

Imagine in only a matter of weeks or months, breaking through years - or even decades - of stumbling through presentations with that feeling of dread, anxiety and panic. Imagine knowing how to avoid the most common mistakes. Imagine delivering presentations people enjoy and benefit from.   Imagine the opportunities for promotion, increased business, recognition and respect. It's easier than you think.
